Hero of American independence, liberator of Argentina, Chile and Peru. The singularity of the heroic profile of José de San Martín is given, more than by his exterior achievements, by the interior greatness of his character. His military campaigns changed the sign of American history during the decolonization process that took place at the beginning of the 19th century.
