When Salvador del Carril died, Tiburcia discovered that she had inherited a considerable fortune. She distributed the money among her seven children and the first expense she made with her part was, curiously, to commission the sculptor Camilo Romairone one of the most majestic mausoleums in Recoleta. The statue of Del Carril sitting in an armchair pointing towards the entrance portico, and Tiburcia made it very clear in her will: "I do not want to look in the same direction as my husband for all eternity." The woman survived her husband for fifteen years and died in 1898. The statues of both, back to back, face opposite cardinal directions.
